What Can I Do About Parentheses Lines?

What Can I Do About Parentheses Lines?

Dear Dr. Brooks,
I’m in my early forties, and over the past year, I’ve noticed that I have developed lines around my mouth. I think they are called parentheses lines. What is the best treatment for this?

Thanks,
Dreading the Aging Process

Dear Dreading the Aging Process,
There are several different fillers available on the market, that can help “fill” your naso-labial folds (laugh lines).  The most common are hyaluronic acid based fillers (Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, Prevelle Silk, to name a few).  These products can last anywhere from 3 months-1 year.  I have used them to fill laugh lines, plump lips and to build up cheeks.  Radiesse is another filler that can fill laugh lines.  This filler is made from calcium and tends to last longer than the previously mentioned.

    Hi Howard

I’d like to know about how the assistance programs work for HIV patients for Radiesse or similiar treatments. Bruce Rashbaum has checked on Radiesse, which he thought would be best. I thought I’d ask you about what my costs would be for the treatment from you. How much, how many syringes etc I’d likely need and how often etc. Your office said I need to come in and get the forms to fill out. Can they be mailed and then I bring them in to you?

I”m just a poor flight attendant trying to make the best of all this. Meds alone are costing way too much. I’d like to consider this treatment or other suggestions and take advantage of the HIV programs.

    Thanks for your time.
